Preparation before your surgery is key for a smooth and easy journey. Here’s our top tips for preparing for your cosmetic surgery.

1. Know what you want.

Have an understanding of what you are aiming to achieve with your surgery. It may help to bring pictures with you to your consultation as examples of what you are seeking. Make sure you conduct your research into the procedure before deciding to proceed. Come in with realistic expectations as not all procedure options are suitable for everyone, however your surgeon will work with you to achieve your desired result.

2. Prepare questions for your surgeon.

Make a list of questions that you can ask your surgeon in your consultation. This will help both you and your surgeon to come to a mutual understanding of your goals out of the procedure. Your surgeon will provide you with any information you need and help settle any concerns you may have. For suggested questions, check out our blog on the Top 11 Questions to Ask Your Surgeon.

3. Arrange time off work.

You want to give yourself as much time as possible to recover, so ensure you organise this with your work as early as you can. The recovery period will differ between different surgeries, so make sure you ask your surgeon in your consultation how long your recovery period is likely to be.

4. Set up a recovery area.

In order to have a comfortable recovery period, have everything organised before your surgery. Prepare your rest areas in a stress-free environment, with lots of pillows and cushions, so you can sit comfortably. Prepare healthy meals before and freeze them so you have enough food available and you don’t have to worry about cooking. Ensure you have plenty of icepacks ready in the freezer to help deal with any pain or discomfort.

5. Organise a friend or family member to help.

Have someone be there for you as you recover. You will need someone to help with driving and any household chores, as well as to ensure you are comfortable and well cared for. If you have any children, make sure you have organised childcare arrangements.
